Bahia, Brazil
WHY? Reminiscent of St Tropez in the 50's - The cliff top village of Trancoso is centred on a quadrado (village green) shaded by almonds and acacias and lined with huts painted in brilliant rainbow colours today converted into galleries, boutiques, bars and cafes. Sleepy by day torchlit at nightfall as the jet-set up from rio and Sao Paolo kick off the evening with their first Caipirinha and the dancing begins.
Stay at UXIA - chic collection of houses converted and designed by Creative Direct of Diesel. Dine at Capim Santo - arguably Trancoso's finest restaurant - select from an extensive Bahian menu in a vine-draped courtyard with log benches. The beach is only a 5 min walk away where you can chill out on daybeds whilst listening to the beat of Jimmy Cliff. For those who need some action there is sailing and horse-riding on this endless sandy beach.

What to wear? Drive off in an Anika Brazil yellow bikini and arrive at Praia do Espelho (Mirror Beach) said to be the most beautiful beach in Brazil. Accessorize your swimwear with a stack of Bside handpainted bangles for lunch at Sylvinha's – a famous gastro shack on the beach.
Then stress-out and go native, take a 2 hour drive to Corumbau. If you are lucky you may see the water buffalo in the river as you drive through partial jungle never far from the sea. Destination Fazenda Sao Francisco E Corumbau - situated on a breath-taking white beach - spacious bungalows right on the beach, cool interiors - design is contemporary and minimalist with vibrant art splashed on white walls. Large pool with a small spa.
