Beach Café Book Club – The Keeper of Lost Things
So we meet again to review our monthly beach read for October. This month we chose the book ‘The Keeper of Lost Things’ by Ruth Hogan. A light & beautiful read sharing the story of Anthony Peardew who has spent half of his life collecting ‘lost things’ and how as time begins to run out, he leaves all his lost treasures and belongings to his assistant Laura, along with the heavy job of returning everything to their rightful owners.
The synopsis offers unforeseen repercussions which leads to a series of encounters, but how did our reviewers find this read? Did it lead up to the exciting outcome the blurb sells it to be? Read below to find out what we all thought
With feature review from the wonderful Anna Hart.

The Keeper of Lost things was a simply pleasant read, however lacked the usual grit and excitement I tend to look for in a book. The story passes through the lives of two leading ladies who's journey finally meets on the road to keeping promises they have made to a passed loved one. This story is beautifully written and easy to read, however at times I found it a bit on the safe side and occasionally edging on griping however never really taking the story line any futher.

Overall I found this book, pleasant. There are moments where you feel a glimpse of something about to happen but then it is seemingly dampened down quite quickly. On a positive, its nicely written, I felt the book ended with no unanswered questions and I felt quite content with the finish. I was beautiful and heart-warming and the two stories cross paths nicely to connect it all together with ease. I feel there is an audience out there that would enjoy this read, but I felt it just wasn't sparky enough for me.
